Boris Miljković
Boris Miljković is a director and creative director. He graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. He began his career as an assistant director on the famous TV series Otpisani (The Written Off). In an authorial tandem with Branimir Dimitrijević, he significantly shaped the artistic life of Belgrade and the former Yugoslavia. His distinctive and powerful mark on the pop culture of the region is particularly notable, through legendary shows such as Rokenroleri (The Rockers), Niko kao ja (No One Like Me), as well as numerous landmark music videos and films: Ruski umetnički eksperimenti (Russian Artistic Experiments), Šumanović – Komedija umetnika (Šumanović – Comedy of an Artist). Boris Miljković tells stories with images just as he conveys stories through visuals, which is especially evident in films such as Povratak kući – Marina Abramović i njena deca (Return Home – Marina Abramović and Her Children), Da Capo with Zubin Mehta, and Goranka, about the photographer Goranka Matić. His work also includes documentary series such as Put u budućnost (Journey into the Future), which presents the history of visual arts from 1950 to 2000; Utopia; and O ljubavi i gađenju, reklama devedesetih (On Love and Disgust, Ads of the Nineties). He has received some of the world’s most prestigious awards in advertising and commercial film, including the Clio Award, the marketing equivalent of the Oscar. He is the author of several books, has participated with performances at international exhibitions, and has worked in theatre and at universities.He has been a longtime creative director at Radio Television of Serbia and served as the creative director for Eurovision in 2008. Part of his contemporary video work has been presented at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Houston. He created video impressions of the performance Tišina Balkana (The Silence of the Balkans), which was the closing event of Thessaloniki – European Capital of Culture in 1997.
