Dubravka Stojanović

Prof. Dr. Dubravka Stojanović is a tenured professor at the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. She teaches General Contemporary History and focuses on issues of democratization in Serbia at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, interpretations of history in new Serbian textbooks, the history of women in Serbia, and the processes of urbanization in Belgrade in the early 20th century. She received the City of Belgrade Award for Social and Humanistic Sciences in 2004 for her book "Serbia and Democracy 1903-1914: A Historical Study of the 'Golden Age of Serbian Democracy'." She was awarded the Peace Prize by the Belgrade Center for Peace and Democracy for her long-term work on reconciliation in Southeast Europe through the reform of history teaching. In 2012, she received the "Conquest of Freedom" award, which is designated for women fighting for human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. She holds the National Order of Merit, the Knight rank of the French Republic. She is the author of several historical books and the author and co-author of nine monographs. She lives in Belgrade.
