Tomislav Bogdan
Tomislav Bogdan was born in 1973 in Split, where he completed primary and secondary school, and studied comparative literature and philosophy at the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Since 1997, he has been employed at that faculty, at the Department of Old Croatian Literature of the Department of Croatian Studies. At the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, he attended postgraduate studies in literature, obtained his master’s degree (2001) and his PhD (2005) with a topic on Croatian love poetry of the 15th and 16th century. He was elected to the position of docent at the Department of Ancient Croatian Literature in 2007, of an associate professor in 2013, of a full professor in 2020. He teaches his students in Zagreb early Croatian modern literature, he also taught several times at postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, and as a guest lecturer he stayed at universities in Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland. On several occasions, he attended professional training abroad, more accurately at the universities of Vienna, Udine and Bonn. He lectured at more than thirty symposiums, of which more than ten were international. His narrower areas of interest are Croatian early modern literature, older Croatian and European lyric poetry, and lyrical theory, about which he has published several dozen papers since 1998. He wrote more than a hundred articles in a series of lexicon and encyclopaedia editions. He prepared several collections of papers and editions of works by older Croatian writers, and published three original scholarly books. From 2012 to 2021, he was a member of the editorial board of the magazine Umjetnost riječi. Časopis za znanost o književnosti, izvedbenoj umjetnosti i filmu, and since 2021 he is a member of the editorial board of the yearbook Colloquia Maruliana.
