Dubrovnik cellars Ltd. is the leading wine producer of Konavle vineyards by the range and quality of production, with a long tradition, which began in 1876 when the company Cellar, widely recognized in the world of wines, was founded by Pero Kolić. The Gruda Winery was built in 1963 with an initial capacity of 250 wagons, employing then-modern technology, and has since been upgraded to a current capacity of 750 wagons. By the late 1960s, 157 hectares of net vineyards have been raised in the Konavle Valley. After the devastation in the Homeland War, which left the company and the Konavle region ravaged, efforts focused on reviving abandoned and war-damaged vineyards. In 2002, the Gruda Winery was equipped with state-of-the-art technology for stabilization, filtration, and a bottling line capable of producing 2,000 bottles per hour.
