Noel Šuran
Noel Šuran is a traditional musician from Istria, a multimedia artist, and an ethnologist specializing in the study of traditional customs, particularly various traditions of folk music in Istria. Through many years of fieldwork, he emphasizes the importance of an authentic approach, local language, and empathy toward communities and individuals. His work focuses on nurturing intangible cultural heritage, especially in the context of contemporary challenges. He is an active participant in scientific projects and is dedicated to promoting traditional culture through education and public performances. He works at the Ethnographic Museum of Istria in Pazin, in the Center for Intangible Culture of Istria of the Ethnographic Museum of Istria. As an external collaborator, he teaches at the Ivan Matetić Ronjgov Music School in Pula. He is a member of the Croatian Ethnological Society, Croatian Composers’ Society, Croatian Society of Fine Artists of Istria, and KUD Šikuti Machinae.
