Jagor Bučan
Jagor Bučan (born in Zagreb in1968) completed the School of Applied Arts and Design in 1987, specializing in metalwork. In 1990, he completed his studies at the Blagoje Bersa Secondary Music School, focusing on guitar. He earned his degree in Painting in 1992 from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Zagreb, under supervision of Professor Josip Vasilije Jordan. Bučan has exhibited his work in 30 solo and 50 group exhibitions both in Croatia and abroad. Over the years, he has received numerous awards, including the first prize at the Sixth Zagorje Art Salon in 2012. In addition to a brief three-year stint as a music pedagogue, teaching guitar at the Blagoje Bersa Elementary Music School, he has been consistently involved in art teaching. From 1996 to 1999, he worked as an Assistant for the Theory of Space course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. He later taught the same course at the Academy in Široki Brijeg from 1999 to 2003. Since 1999, he has been teaching Painting at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of the Works of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he is now a Full Professor. Beyond his artistic and teaching endeavors, Bučan is also deeply engaged in art theory, which he systematically explores alongside his other activities. He is the author of an extensive scientific study examining the relationship between the image and language 'Riječ je o slici' (It's About the Image), as well as art monographs Albert Kinert and Mladen Pejaković (in collaboration with multiple authors). He has edited several monographic publications and afterwords. In the journals Europski glasnik (European Herald) and ZaJedno (For one/Together), he has published numerous essays and reviews.
