Marko Pogačar
Marko Pogačar was born in 1984 in Split. He writes poetry, prose, essays, and literary criticism. He has worked as an editor for Zarez and Quorum and currently co-edits the portal Kritika-HDP. He is the author of several scripts for experimental documentary and animated films. He has been a fellow of numerous international foundations and residency programs, including Civitella Ranieri, Passa Porta, Milo Dor, Literarisches Colloquium Berlin, Internationales Haus der Autoren Graz, Krokodil Belgrade, Literaturhaus NÖ, Récollets-Paris, Poeteka Tirana, Landis & Gyr, Lyrik Kabinet, and the DAAD Berliner Künstlerprogramm. He is the president of Goranovo proljeće. Pogačar has received both Croatian and international awards for poetry, prose, and essays. His books have been translated into about ten languages, and his texts into more than thirty. He has published the following books of poetry, prose, and essays: Pijavice nad Santa Cruzom (Leeches over Santa Cruz), Poslanice običnim ljudima (Epistles to Ordinary People), Predmeti (Objects), Atlas glasova (Atlas of Voices), Jer mi smo mnogi (Because We Are Many), Bog neće pomoći (God Will Not Help), Crna pokrajina (The Black Province), Jugoton gori! (Jugoton Is Burning!), Slijepa karta (Blind Map), Zemlja Zemlja (Land Land), Pobuna čuvara / Čitati noću (Rebellion of the Guardians / Reading at Night), Korov, ili protiv književnosti (Weeds, or Against Literature), Latinoamericana, Knjiga praznika (The Book of Holidays), Adolfove uši: Berlinski dnevnik (Adolf’s Ears: Berlin Diary), and Ponoćni glagoli (Midnight Verbs). He is also the author of the children’s book Prva detektivska agencija za praćenje ptica (The First Detective Agency for Tracking Birds, illustrated by Stefhany Yepes Lozano). He has edited the anthologies Hrvatska mlada lirika 2014. (Young Croatian Poets 2014) and The Edge of a Page: Young Poetry in Croatia.
