Andrej Blatnik
Andrej Blatnik (1963, Ljubljana, Slovenia) is an associate professor of Publishing Studies at the University of Ljubljana and the author of five novels, six collections of short stories, and six books of essays. He has received several notable literary awards, including the Ljubljana City Award, Zlata ptica (the highest recognition for young artists), the Slovenian national Prešeren Fund Award, and the Russian Yugra Award for the best Slavic short story collection in 2016, among others. His stories have been translated into more than 40 languages and published in literary journals and numerous anthologies, including Best European Fiction 2010 (Dalkey Archive Press, 2010) and Short: An International Anthology of Five Centuries of Short Short Stories (Persea Books, 2014). About 40 of his books have been published in translation in 14 languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Serbian, Italian, Turkish, Russian, Oriya, etc.), including seven in Croatian. He has participated in literary festivals around the world and took part in the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa in 1993. He has received numerous fellowships, including a Fulbright. He continues to enjoy reading and traveling.
