Jagna Pogačnik

Jagna Pogačnik was born in 1969. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. She worked as a literary critic for Jutarnji list, and today writes for „Bestbook“, a supplement to the weekly magazine Express, and recommends books on the programme „Dobro jutro, Hrvatska“. Since 2021, she has been a member of the editorial board of the web portal Kritika h,d,p by the Croatian Writers’ Society. She edited the konTEKST library (EPH and Novi liber), and since 2020 she has occasionally edited books for Hena.com publishing house. She has published a selection of Croatian fantastic prose „Prodavaonica tajni“, collections of literary criticism „Backstage“, „Proza poslije FAK-a“, „Kombajn na književnom polju“, a selection of new Croatian prose „Seks&grad u novoj hrvatskoj prozi“, selected short stories „Najbolje hrvatske priče 2005“, an anthology of contemporary Croatian prose „Tko govori, tko piše“ and „Područje signala, mapiranje suvremene proze u Hrvatskoj 2000. - 2020“. She has translated approximately one hundred literary and professional texts, a dozen radio dramas and around sixty books from Slovenian. In 2000, she received the international KulturKontakt award from Vienna for her translations.
