Narine Abgaryan
Narine Abgaryan was born in 1971 in Berd, Armenia, into a family of doctors and teachers. She graduated from the State University of Linguistic Studies in Yerevan, earning a degree as a teacher of Russian language and literature. She writes books for children, novels, and short stories. So far, she has published about ten works, gaining fame with her children’s books trilogy (2010–2012) about the adventures of the eleven-year-old heroine Manyunya. The book became a bestseller, as did her novel Semyon Andreyevich: A Chronicle in Scribbles (2012), which won the Baby-Nos Award and was recognized as the best children’s book of the past decade in Russia. Manyunya was adapted into a television series that aired on the Okko platform, premiering at the Kinotavr Film Festival in 2021. Her acclaimed novel Three Apples Fell from the Sky (2015) earned her the Yasnaya Polyana Award in 2016. Abgaryan is also a recipient of the Russian Alexander Grin Award, given for outstanding contributions to Russian literature. Her books have been translated into numerous languages.
