Slaven Jurić
Slaven Jurić was born in 1966 in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he completed primary and secondary school. He graduated in Comparative Literature and Philosophy from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. Since 1995, he has worked at the Department of Comparative Literature, currently holding the position of associate professor. He is the author of three scholarly monographs (Rastućim skladom [In Growing Harmony], Počeci slobodnoga stiha [The Beginnings of Free Verse], Pjesma, priča poema [Verse, Story, Poem]) and co-author of a professional handbook (Lektira na dlanu [Required Reading at Your Fingertips]). He also edited an anthology of contemporary narrative poetry, Pjevači priča (Singers of Stories). He has published around fifty scholarly and professional articles and essays in the fields of literary theory and the comparative history of Croatian literature. He regularly contributes to publications of the Miroslav Krleža Institute of Lexicography and has written numerous entries for the Leksikon hrvatske književnosti (Lexicon of Croatian Literature) published by Školska knjiga. He has frequently served on juries for national and prestigious literary awards, including the Vladimir Nazor Award (2001, 2002), the T-portal Best Novel of the Year (2009, 2010), and the Goran Award (2010, 2018).
