Bruno Kragić

Bruno Kragić (Split, 1973). He graduated in Comparative Literature and Romance Studies from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb (1997), and earned his master’s degree (2004) and doctorate (2012) with dissertations on film studies. Since 2000, he has worked at the Miroslav Krleža Institute of Lexicography, where he has authored and edited numerous publications, including serving as co-editor (with Nikica Gilić) of Filmski leksikon (Film Lexicon, 2003) and as assistant editor-in-chief of the print edition of the Hrvatska enciklopedija (Croatian Encyclopedia, 2006–2009). He served as the director of the Institute from 2009 to 2020 and has been its director-general since 2020. Since 2021, he has also been editor-in-chief of the online edition of the Hrvatska enciklopedija (Croatian Encyclopedia, enciklopedija.hr). He teaches Film History at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, was for twenty years co-editor (with Tomislav Brlek) of the illustrated arts and culture magazine 15 dana, published the monograph Neke tendencije klasičnoga filma (Certain Tendencies of Classical Film, 2017), prepared a selection of Boris Maruna’s poetry Svijet koji znam (The World I Know, 2015), and co-edited the book Filmska čitanka Ante Peterlića (Ante Peterlić’s Film Reader, 2010). In addition to more than 1,500 encyclopedia and lexicon entries, he has published around 150 reviews, commentaries, essays, and studies on film, literature, and encyclopedistics.
