Branko Čegec

Branko Čegec was born in 1957. He graduated in  Yugoslav Studies and Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. He edited literature sections in youth newspapers and journals Polet and Pitanja. From 1985 to 1989, he was the main editor of the journal Quorum. From 1989 until the end of 1990 he was the editor-in-chief of the cultural journal Oko, and afterward, until 1993, he served as an editor at the publishing house Mladost. In 1992, he founded his own publishing house Meandar (from 2005 MeandarMedia). In 1998, he co-founded the association Croatian Independent Publishers and was its first president. In 1999, he was elected as the chairman of the Goran's Spring Committee, a position he held until the fall of 2007, and in 2002 he established the Book and Journal Center for the book Tema. 
He published about thirty books of poetry, prose, and essays. His poems have been included in about thirty anthologies, selections, and reviews in the country and abroad.
