Mikrokozmos

Microcosmos is the main theme around which the 30th Book Fair(y) in Istria is formed. Book Fair(y)’s own microcosmoses, Pula and Istria, form the baseline of this theme since the intertwinement of these small ‘continents’ of identity and the world has marked its thirty-year-long journey. The anniversary topic was introduced through the establishment of Histrokozmos, the new ‘fair within the fair’ at the 29th Book Fair(y), while it took the shape of a separate programme as a result of thorough rethinking of one’s roots and identity. It encompasses diverse formats – literary encounters, roundtables, exhibitions, etc. that explore cultural microcosmoses, microcosmoses of artists, microcosmoses of gender... Simultaneously, it entails the search for the remaining fragments of the cultural unity – now scattered through the workings of new globalisation and bureaucratic trends – and finding a model that would connect the genuine breakthroughs in the field of culture and art.
