Fair(y) Awards

The Book Fair(y) in Istria awards have made a valuable contribution to the Croatian literary scene and publishing industry since 2004, when the Kiklop Award was presented for the first time. From 2004 to 2014, the Kiklop Award was Croatia’s most prestigious literary award, presented in more than ten categories to authors and publishers whose work had made a significant contribution to Croatia’s literary, scientific and humanities fields. The Libar za vajk Award was established in 2015 to encourage outstanding publishing projects. The monetary award and the Libar za vajk sculpture by Mauricio Ferlin are presented to a work that, in the opinion of some of Croatia’s finest booksellers and the Book Fair’s audience, will be remembered for generations to come for its timeless value. The Dr. Ivo Borovečki Award was established in 2013 in memory of a distinguished Pula physician, radiologist and polyglot who was also a great friend of the Book Fair. It is presented to the Book Fair’s most dedicated reader, someone known for their genuine love of reading and lifelong connection with books. The award consists of a sculpture conceived by sculptor Marina Orlić and created this year by artist Neva Legović.
